The perfect shade of lipstick can lead to the perfect opportunity for sin…

When living-challenged author Claire Presswood gets invited to go on a night out on the town with her two best friends, she isn’t prepared for the evening that awaits her. Hungry and overworked, she arrives at a masked party at an art museum in time to meet debonair artist Maxwell Douglas. One look from his luminous eyes and Claire knows this will be a night to remember…

A Paranormal Quickie

I’ve got to say, I was immediately smitten with Lipstick! The reason? Erzabet Bishop uses the word moue right off the bat. It’s a sexy, deliciously descriptive word, it gave me a perfect visual, and it plopped me into the opening scene; three girlfriends trying on lipsticks at the cosmetics counter of a department store as they prepare for a night out. Rachel and Carmen are dragging Claire to an art opening in a two-fold attempt to cheer her up and get her laid. Things have been rough for Claire lately. Her latest erotic romance received a scathing review from a jerk of a critic, her husband left her, a crazy poodle took a chunk out of her arm. And oh yeah, she morphed into a zombie. Most likely due to the crazy poodle bite. Hard to tell. Thankfully, her girls have her back and understand her mood swings. What with Rachel being a vampire, and Carmen a kitty shifter who are they to judge? There’s a whole lot of punch packed into this novella. It’s fast paced, well written, very sexy, and the banter is fast and funny.

“Claire, I’m sure there will be something or someone to eat when we get there. Now get in the goddamned car.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
“Boy. Bossy much?” Carmen winked at me and we got in.
I just hoped wherever we were going had more than bar nuts, or someone was gonna get munched.”

I purposely didn’t read any blurbs about this novella. I don’t usually do that. I prefer to know what I’m getting myself into. But I’m in a weird, lazy, devil-may-care, holiday attitude. I’m up for surprises. I’m really glad I went into Lipstick not knowing what to expect. Because what I got was quirky, fun, sexy, and so well written I will forgive her for writing such a short story. On the other hand, it is the perfect length for a quickie. We all like quickies, right? Btw, Claire gets one or two, and they are faaabulous!
