Synopsis

Twenty-eight-year-old journalist Kate Klein knew reporting on a powerful businessman’s disregard for the safety of the local water supply was a dangerous assignment, but she is nonetheless shocked when she is suddenly taken captive, bound, and brought to a remote cabin.

Her gruff yet undeniably handsome captor turns out to be a man named Sloan who claims he is an undercover FBI agent investigating the same organization she has been trying to expose. Kate is unsure whether Sloan can be trusted, but he makes it clear that he plans to do whatever is necessary to protect her, whether she likes it or not. If keeping her safe requires taking her over his knee for a stern punishment to ensure her obedience, then so be it.

When Kate keeps some critical information from Sloan, a long, hard spanking on her bare bottom quickly proves that his warning was not a bluff. To her surprise, however, the painful, embarrassing chastisement leaves Kate not only promising to be good but also yearning for Sloan to take her in his arms and claim her thoroughly.

Sloan’s skilled, dominant lovemaking is unlike anything Kate has ever experienced before, and she finds her desire for him growing more intense by the hour. But when something goes terribly wrong and the entire investigation is put in jeopardy, can Sloan prove to Kate that she is not just a means to an end for him?

Publisher’s Note: Capturing Kate is an erotic romance novel that includes spankings, sexual scenes, elements of BDSM, and more. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this book.

Crazy, Sexy Fun!

Capturing Kate is a wild and crazy ride! It’s my first “ride” with Alexis Alvarez and I enjoyed the heck out of it. She delivers a well-written story that moves like it’s being chased by bad guys. Oh wait…that would be our quirky heroine, Kate. Her reporter’s curiosity has gotten her into a bit of a mess. What started out as an expose about contamination in the city’s water supply has taken an unexpected turn. I’m talking FBI and Mafia arms dealers kind of turn. There’s also plenty of humor and sexy times mixed in with the danger and suspense. Capturing Kate reminds me of a 1940’s RomCom movie; the fast-paced action is, at times, over the top in every way. It’s pure entertainment so sit back and enjoy the show.

Kate is the talented and headstrong heroine who ends up biting off more than she can chew in her pursuit of “the story”. Sloane is the FBI agent who’s been working the arms dealer case that Kate inadvertently stumbles into. Well, she pretty much walks right up and rings the doorbell. It’s poor Sloane who now has to protect her by keeping her hidden away until the case is wrapped up. How hard can that be, right?

I alternately loved and hated them both. Kate has every right to be freaked and scared out of her mind. She has no idea if Sloan is who he says he is. She wants to believe him but her self-preservation mode keeps trying to wrestle its way to the front. Which makes for drama, drama, drama. Sloan would rather be anywhere else but locked up in a cabin with this wackadoodle. She may be adorable, sexy, and smart but she’s still a nutcase. Unfortunately, his job is to keep her safe. Besides, he needs the info she just might hold the key to. So, what does an alpha male do with a hysterical female? Spank her of course! Sloane’s methods are sexy as all get out. He may be trying to maintain his distance emotionally but something about Kate pulls him in fast. Despite their situation, these two have some pretty fiery chemistry going on. I do have to say, Sloane’s methods of handling Kate probably cross the line of proper kinky etiquette. Just saying. Nevertheless, I enjoyed Capturing Kate. It’s action-packed, sexy, and an overall fun read.
