Another brilliant comedy about Dog and Lionel.
Masc By Marshall Thornton
Genre: Contemporary Romance, GLBTQ, MM
Released: April 28, 2018
Publisher: Kenmore Books
Series: Femme, Book 2

Lionel and Dog are back in this follow-up to the Lambda finalist, Femme. Almost six months have passed and, after taking an online quiz, Lionel believes their relationship is doomed because they have nothing in common. To save their relationship, the pair joins a gay bowling league and discovers that Lionel is an excellent, if somewhat eccentric bowler.
Meanwhile, Dog gets profiled in a work newsletter. He’s excited that he’s out at work but doesn’t immediately see that by fawning over Dog’s masculine nature he was also putting down all femme guys. Lionel takes it personally which leads to a crisis in their relationship. Attempting to make it up to Lionel, Dog attempts to make a grand gesture which backfires spectacularly.
Will the two manage to put things right? And will a night in jail, a morning of drag bingo, an afternoon of day drinking, and a month of moping make things better or worse?

Another brilliant comedy about Dog and Lionel.
Masc is book two in the Femme series; romantic comedy stories about Dog and Lionel. I listened to the audio book of Femme, it was my first book by Marshall Thornton, and I loved it! It was one of those stories that I think I may have enjoyed more as an audio book simply because of the outstanding performance by Joel Leslie. The voices he did for all of the characters were amazing.
I really wanted to experience Masc as an audiobook but I was too impatient to wait for it; I had to read more about Lionel and Dog now. ? I loved this story nearly as much as I loved Femme. Because I had listened to Femme first it was easy for me to “hear” all of the character’s voices in my head while I read Masc.
In Masc, Lionel is concerned that they don’t have enough in common for their relationship to last so Dog suggests that they join a bowling league together. Despite the fact that Lionel has never bowled before, he does quite well. The description of his rather unconventional style is hilarious.
Lionel and Dog also have the first major crisis in their relationship due to a co-worker who pursues Dog and doesn’t care that he already has a boyfriend. This adds a somber tone at times to this otherwise hilarious story and contributes to some interesting scenes with Lionel and his friend Carlos (aka Carlotta).
Like Femme, Masc is one of the funniest and most entertaining stories I’ve read. If you love a good romantic comedy you should love Masc. I’m hoping there’s an audio version soon so that I can enjoy it all over again.
