Mud, sweat, and reluctant romance. Can Aiden and Matt sort out their feelings before race day?
When Aiden agrees to run the Mad Mucker—a twelve-mile muddy slog over an obstacle course—he’s expecting it to be a bit of a laugh. The training will be tough, but Aiden could use the motivation to regain some fitness.
Matt is the sexy cousin of one of Aiden’s coworkers and a last-minute addition to the team. When he agrees to train with Aiden, Aiden suddenly finds the prospect of regular workouts a lot more appealing.
Soon attraction flares, and they embark on an intense physical relationship. Matt doesn’t want to fall in love with a man, and Aiden doesn’t want to fall in love at all, but despite their insistence on no strings, they grow closer. As the day of the race approaches, time is running out for them to work out how they feel about each other.

I loved it!
I always enjoy books by Jay Northcote but the last two I’ve read (Nothing Special and this one, Nothing Ventured) I have absolutely loved! After some badgering by a workmate, Liv, Aiden agrees to participate in a twelve-mile run/obstacle course team challenge.
Aiden is a bit out of shape so Liv gets her cousin Matt to join the team and help whip Aiden into shape. When they meet, Aiden is attracted to Matt’s looks but their first conversational exchange has Aiden backing off and away from flirting with the straight guy.
As they spend more time together Aiden begins to believe that Matt is attracted to him, too. Eventually they give into their mutual desire for each other and begin a no-strings-attached relationship (and boy is it hot!). Neither of them wants anything long-term – or do they?
Wow! I really felt the connection between these two guys. Matt tried hard to fight his feelings for Aiden but a near catastrophic accident during the race finally makes him realize that he can’t let Aiden go.
There are definitely rocky places along the way for Aiden and Matt, and I shed more than a few tears – both happy and sad, but I’m not giving anything away by telling you they do get an HEA and I thought it was pretty wonderful.

Jay lives just outside Bristol in the West of England. He comes from a family of writers, but always used to believe that the gene for fiction writing had passed him by. He spent years only ever writing emails, articles, or website content.
One day, Jay decided to try and write a short story—just to see if he could—and found it rather addictive. He hasn’t stopped writing since.
Jay writes contemporary romance about men who fall in love with other men. He has five books published by Dreamspinner Press, and also self-publishes under the imprint Jaybird Press. Many of his books are now available as audiobooks.

Coming of AgeThis book just about ripped my heart out. It’s darker than most of Jessica’s other stories but, like her other books, it seems so real and believable. As I’ve said before, I think her Army service brings real credibility to her stories.
