Synopsis

Chelsea Dwyer arrives home from her job at the middle-school library in Latham Hills, Michigan, expecting another quiet evening—until she hears the screams for help through her living room window. As the first witness to a terrible accident involving two local students, Chelsea doesn’t anticipate how her own life will be irrevocably changed by the father of one of the boys. In the wake of tragedy, she’s the only one who seems to understand his grief. Chelsea’s a survivor, too—and she knows that there are brighter days ahead.

As a single father, Aidan Deveraux worked his entire life to provide a stable home for his son, Derrick. Without him, Aidan feels the deepest despair imaginable. The one thing that keeps him going is his connection with the woman who tried to save his son. Hard as he tries, Aidan just can’t stay away. Chelsea’s warm embrace is the comforting solace he desperately craves—and it doesn’t hurt that Aidan had noticed the beautiful librarian and wanted to ask her out for years. Now that she’s in his life, he doesn’t ever want to let go.

Grabbed me from the first page & wouldn’t let go.

His to Cherish is the third book in the Fireside series but it can easily be read as a standalone. It’s also the first book I’ve read by Stacey Lynn. I love reading series in order and, even though it wasn’t necessary for the understanding and enjoyment of the story, I wish I had read the other two books.Chelsea was witness to the aftermath of a horrible accident involving two students from the school where she is the librarian. Aidan’s son died in that accident and amidst his grief he feels a connection to Chelsea.

I knew when I read the book’s blurb/synopsis that it would most likely be a tearjerker and I was right. The story evoked many strong emotions and once I started reading it I only put it down to sleep and that wasn’t exactly by choice.

Some people might find this book a bit too emotional but I loved it. Ms. Lynn’s writing put me into the story and had me feeling everything that the main characters felt. Aidan’s inability to deal with his grief causes many ups and downs in his relationship with Chelsea. She also has some baggage of her own due to her ex. The conflict in the story just seemed to make the characters come back even stronger.

Ms. Lynn did a great job of setting up the story line for the next book while at the same time giving this book a very satisfying HEA. I look forward to reading more of her stories.

About Author

Stacey Lynn

Stacey Lynn is a simple girl, raised most of her life in the MidWest. Perhaps it was the long, frigid winters that left her so bored she had nothing to do but spend time reading every book she could get her hands on from John Grisham and Danielle Steel to Ann M. Martin and CS Lewis. As an avid reader, she began penning poems and short stories long before she reached high school and her love of the written word has never diminished.

Now, as a wife and mother to four children, she finds solace from the craziness of her life by creating steamy, sexy stories that generally tug at your emotions. What began as a hobby and a way to survive a Minnesota winter three years ago and the dream of publishing her first book, has now turned into an unending passion.
