Getting Him Back By K.A. Mitchell
Genre: Contemporary New Adult GLBTQ MM Romance
Released: February 15, 2016
Publisher: Carina Press
Series: Ethan & Wyatt, Book 1

Ethan may have followed his high school sweetheart to college only to get dumped his first day there, but he’s not going to let that stop him from exploring all his new life has to offer. Sex-only hookups, his photography, new friends and a campus-wide game of zombies vs humans all help keep his mind off his broken heart and move him toward building a new, better life without his ex.
And then there’s Wyatt. Mysterious, grouchy—hot. And possibly not gay. But Ethan’s not going to let that stand in the way of figuring out what makes Wyatt tick. New college goal? Get Wyatt into bed and into Ethan’s life.
Step one: arrange a “tutoring” date. Step two: “accidentally” bump into Wyatt as often as possible. Step three: explore the sexy body under that ever-present hoodie. And when their friendship deepens into something neither of them expect, convince Wyatt he’s not just a pity fling or a one-time hookup, but that Ethan is in it for the long haul.

Getting Him Back is the first NA (new adult) story I’ve read from K.A. Mitchell and it was a good one. Before I started reading this one I already knew that there was a second book about Ethan and Wyatt so I wasn’t sure whether or not to expect a cliffhanger from this book. For my money, I wouldn’t call this one a cliffhanger, rather more of a HFN (happy for now) story.Ethan has followed his boyfriend Blake to college instead of attending the school his parents would have preferred. We already know from the book blurb that Ethan ends up with someone else so I’m not giving away anything when I say that things didn’t work out the way he planned. What Ethan didn’t plan on is being attracted to someone else while he is nursing his broken heart.
Wyatt is a quiet guy and a bit mysterious. He always seems to be hiding behind his hoodie and the bangs that he lets flop over his face. Ethan is definitely intrigued and wants to solve the puzzle that is Wyatt.
I thought this was a great story and boy was it HOT! Lots of exploration going on, sexual and otherwise, as Ethan settles into college life – even though it’s not the life he’d planned to have with Blake.
There is definitely some serious chemistry between Ethan and Wyatt. I found this novella to be a real page turner. I was almost glad that it was a shorter story because I couldn’t wait to finish it; especially since I knew that the next book was already out. Ms. Mitchell has a way of describing college life that kept me very interested even though I’m waaay past the typical age of a college student.
This story is told from Ethan’s point of view (POV) and I don’t think I’m spoiling anything by saying that the next one is told from Wyatt’s POV.

K.A. Mitchell discovered the magic of writing at an early age when she learned that a carefully crayoned note of apology sent to the kitchen in a toy truck would earn her a reprieve from banishment to her room. Her career as a spin-control artist was cut short when her family moved to a two-story house, and her trucks would not roll safely down the stairs. Around the same time, she decided that Chip and Ken made a much cuter couple than Ken and Barbie and was perplexed when invitations to play Barbie dropped off. She never stopped making stuff up, though, and was surprised to find out that people would pay her to do it. Although the men in her stories usually carry more emotional baggage than even LAX can lose in a year, she guarantees they always find their sexy way to a happy ending.
