Gavin Mitchel has resigned himself to a lonely and unfulfilling love life, but his first meeting with Ryker Hudson is as steamy as it is random, which is precisely the way Ryker likes it. Their second meeting, while equally random, is beyond awkward.
Although a fourteen-year age difference stands in their way, a much larger obstacle is also blocking their path. Together, Ryker and Gavin must find the strength to overcome the roadblocks or bid farewell to their happily ever after.
**This is a male/male romance meant for ages 18+ due to adult language and situations.**

Ryker and Gavin were made for each other.
While Ryker & Gavin is the fifth book in the Something About Him series it isn’t really connected to the other books. In fact, the books are really standalone stories with a connected theme. While I think you should read the other books first because they are good, you won’t miss anything if you start with this one.Ms. Ellis has done it again. Ryker & Gavin was such a good story and an emotional one for me to read – my favorite kind. Ryker comes out to his mom when he’s 18 and it didn’t go the way he’d hoped.
There’s so much about this story that I don’t think I can tell without giving spoilers. If you read the blurb you already know that there is a 14-year age difference between Ryker and Gavin. Gavin thinks this is an obstacle to them having a relationship but it doesn’t bother Ryker. When the two of them first meet the attraction to each other is strong but they never expect to see each other again.
A lot of this story is about Ryker and his reconciliation with his mom and how that impacts his relationship with Gavin. The whole relationship seemed so realistic to me and yet somewhat unbelievable. I know that doesn’t make much sense… and I can’t say more without giving too much away. Bottom line for me is that I read for escapism and I know it’s fiction; so, unless something is way, way out there I don’t mind if some of the premise seem a bit implausible to me. Besides, what do I know – truth is often stranger than fiction.
Here’s a quote that shows just how much Ryker is hurting:
“So, you throw out your poor little homo son, but then find another homo to take his place? A gay friend is fine, but a gay son is just too much for you?” Ryker stood in the corner where the countertops met, his arms wrapped defensively around himself.
I really wish I could convey with words how much I enjoyed this story. Every book I’ve read in this series has been a five-star read for me. I’m so glad I discovered this author’s books; I’m looking forward to more great stories from her.
