A great single dad story!

I’ve loved every book I’ve ready by Gabbi Grey and Hugh is no exception. I think it’s a bit longer than the other books I’ve read by her so she really had time to explore the characters and the circumstances that brought them together.

There’s a significant age-gap between Hugh and Oscar but I like that this fact wasn’t beat to death in the story. I liked how dedicated Oscar is to Marilee and also how quickly Hugh became devoted to her. The story puts this little family through quite a bit before they get their HEA but I didn’t feel like it was overly angsty.

The cast of secondary characters includes a teddy bear of a dog named Hemingway that Oscar rescued, a grandmotherly babysitter, Oscar’s family and a not-so-nice social worker named Anthony. I love it when a character finds redemption so I was very happy to learn that Anthony will get his own book in this series. I’m very much looking forward to reading it.
