“You think you can do the jiggy with my baby brother, without wooing him for approximately three years first? Hah! I hope you weren’t too attached to your toenails.”
Fifty is a simple man. He doesn’t know much, but he knows this: to stay well clear of Otto Eggebraaten. Overprotective big brother, Eggy, hounds Otto’s every move. The nineteen-year-old is cute, blond, and trouble.
Outwardly, Fifty’s life is good. He surfs, teaches other folk to surf, drinks beer, and hangs with his friends. Inwardly, however, he’s treading water. And with his thirtieth birthday on the horizon, still hoarding a secret he’s too ashamed to confide in anyone, even his best friend, Eggy. When Otto accidentally stumbles upon it, Fifty finds himself questioning everything he ever believed was missing.
Dipped In Sunshine is an age-gap, best friend’s brother romance featuring a cinnamon roll surfer and a blond fluffball. It can be read as a standalone.

Otto and Fifty are made for each other!
I loved Otto and Fifty so much. While Dipped in Sunshine can easily be read as a standalone story, I think you will enjoy it more if you read Brushed With Love first. At the end of Brushed With Love Otto shows up to surprise his brother Eggy. I was so wishing that book two would be about Otto and Eggy’s best friend, Fifty and my wish was granted.
Like book one, this story is filled with lots of emotions including some LOL moments. Otto is so precocious – he’s only 19 – while at the same time being very grownup. Both Fifty and Otto are dealing with some health concerns. Fify’s is a bit more personal and embarrassing than Otto’s and he is somewhat surprised that it’s easier to talk about it with his doctor with Otto there with him. As the two grow closer Fifty finds that his problem is getting better and Otto is happy to help him out.
The one thing that’s overshadowing their growing relationship is Eggy. He is super protective of Otto and has declared the nasty things he will do to anyone taking advantage of him. Fifty wants to tell Eggy about his relationship with Otto but Otto asks him to wait. When they finally decide to tell Eggy together it goes pretty badly and then something else happens that complicates matters. (I’m being deliberately vague as I don’t like to give away spoilers.)
I absolutely loved the epilogue which is set 10 years in the future. One of my favorite things is getting a further glimpse of the characters after they’ve been together for a while and this epilogue is super satisfying.
I don’t know what Fearne Hill has planned next but I know I will want to read it.
