The ghosts of Myrtle Beach are restless, trapped by love, secrets, scandals, and spells, keeping Simon busy protecting the living from the unhappy dead. Someone from Vic’s past is out to destroy him and everyone he holds dear, and the high-profile trial of the first case Simon and Vic worked together puts them in the spotlight—and put a target on their backs. As a deadly trap closes around them, can Simon and Vic tie up the loose ends to stop the threat, or will they become the newest ghosts of the Grand Strand?
It’s #4 in the Badlands series, but can be read/listened as a standalone story.

Ghosts and more ghosts! A great audiobook!
I loved this book when I read it back in October 2019. When I got the chance to review the audiobook, I thought: this will be easy because I’ve already read it. Usually when I listen to a book I’ve already read I don’t need to pay as much attention to the audiobook when I listen to it. Fooled me on this one! I was completely captivated by the story all over again. I think Kale Williams has done a fantastic job performing the books in this series.
Below is a copy of my review (with minor edits) from when I read the book in October 2019.
Loose Ends is such a great book and an excellent addition to the Badlands series. This series caught and held my attention back in October 2019. At that time I was a relative newcomer to Morgan Brice’s books but I got hooked and have read and listened to all of her books published since then.
While Loose Ends is book three (or four depending on if you look at Goodreads or Amazon) in the Badlands series it works well as a standalone. The author does a good job of giving you enough details that you would have learned from the earlier books, and yet those details didn’t feel at all repetitive to me.
Take a look at the blurb; it does a great job of describing the story. I’ll tell you that it kept me on the edge of my seat waiting for the next thing to happen. The book had my emotions all over the place. Simon and Vic are getting on really well living together and both are thinking that it might be time to take the next step but they don’t tell each other that.
The ghosts in Myrtle Beach are really riled up and active in this story! I was totally captivated right from the beginning and stayed up way too late so I could finish it. I hope we get more stories with Simon and Vic.

Morgan Brice is the romance pen name of bestselling author Gail Z. Martin. Morgan writes urban fantasy male/male paranormal romance, with plenty of action, adventure and supernatural thrills to go with the happily ever after. Gail writes epic fantasy and urban fantasy, and together with co-author hubby Larry N. Martin, steampunk and comedic horror, all of which have less romance, more explosions. Characters from her Gail books make frequent appearances in secondary roles in her Morgan books, and vice versa.
On the rare occasions Morgan isn’t writing, she’s either reading, cooking, or spoiling two very pampered dogs.
Series include Witchbane, Badlands, Treasure Trail, Kings of the Mountain and Fox Hollow. Watch for more in these series, plus new series coming soon!
