Nate is either extremely foolish or extremely fortunate–he’ll find out soon enough. In his defense, he doesn’t have a choice. One squeeze of a hand and he’s lost, ready to follow Caleb anywhere, do anything… Except His Excellency Caleb Massoud is the least available man in the Nortwest. He’s young and beautiful, outrageously rich, surrounded by security detail, and bound by the strict rulebook of his conservative family. Loving Caleb is forbidden, a sacrilege. But what if Caleb returns Nate’s feelings?
Entangled in secrets and his parents’ demands, Caleb can barely breathe. His heat is approaching, and the hormones are messing with his head and body, while his fathers insist he must marry now. As the only omega son and heir, Caleb is supposed to stay pure until he chooses one of the pre-approved alphas. Instead, he’s burning with all-consuming lust for an older, liberal American without any wealth or connections. And Nate desires him back–it’s clearly written in his eyes. Caleb has been the docile omega long enough. It’s time to smash the golden cage and take what he wants.

Really hot, with a great story!
I really enjoyed reading Devoted. It’s set in the same world as Precious – released in November 2020 – but it is a standalone story. This definitely an erotic romance but it is also a story about cultural and religious differences. Those two things aren’t really beat to death, rather, they are mentioned to point out the significant differences between the two MCs.
Caleb comes from a rich and powerful family with many religious beliefs and traditions. Nate is a working man with his own photography business who doesn’t share Caleb’s family’s faith. This unlikely pair meet when Caleb hires Nate to do some photography work for him. They each feel a connection but do not mention it or act on it right away.
This book is really hot, with lots and lots of NSFW dialogue, but it also contains a good story. Caleb’s head is full of dirty thoughts and he dreams of having Nate do naughty things to him. While he is an independent minded omega, who doesn’t want to become any alpha’s property, he wants to be spanked and dominated in the bedroom. I loved how considerate Nate was of Caleb and his feelings; he doesn’t think that omegas should be treated as property but he is happy to indulge Caleb’s fantasies in the bedroom.
Nate and Caleb have some difficult times ahead while dealing with Caleb’s family. They get some help from an unlikely source, Caleb’s bodyguard. They also get help from Walter Sebastian, someone that Roe has written several free short stories about. It’s not necessary to read those stories before reading Devoted but there is a link to them in the “author links” section of this blog post.
I really hope that Roe continues to write stories in this world and I would love to read one where Sebastian gets his own HEA.
