Rising from the ashes of tragedy and out for little payback…

With a name like Vengeance you have to know something tragic has happened in someone’s life. Well, that something tragic isn’t exclusive to just one somebody. Hahn, the villain is one sick psychopath. He has a real flair for torture and obsession. His obsession is Elizabeth Mason and her very delectable blood. Of course, he isn’t the root of all evil but just the tool of the moment. After all, we couldn’t have a cataclysmic world ending tale that is just the beginning in a series if there was nowhere to go when they defeat this monster.

Having escaped Hahn’s evil clutches once, Elizabeth Mason has moved to Michigan with her pack and now lives under the assumed name of Eliza North. Recovering and putting her life back together wasn’t an easy feat but if Eliza is one thing, she’s a survivor. She’s been to hell and back and has the t-shirt to prove it. She works as a CT tech at the local hospital’s ER and often has to deal with the crazy, criminal and just plain obnoxious patient. It’s a darn good thing she has a wicked sense of humor and a no-nonsense approach to life. It also doesn’t hurt a bit that she’s half vampire so a little bit of vamp mojo comes in handy from time to time. Her pack mates were her saviors when life served her up cold and almost dead ten years ago and they are some mighty fine alpha males that are just a tad protective. They are also lethal, as in the special ops kind of lethal and they have been turning Eliza onto all their tricks. Rounding out Eliza’s repertoire of family and friends is Jo. Jo is her best friend and co-worker. She’s also an empath. You would think a wolf pack and an empath for a friend were enough to make life exciting. You’d be wrong. You see, Eliza hasn’t had a romantic entanglement in over ten years and she’s more than due for one now. An attractive, hotter than sin, vampire bounty hunter appears to fill the bill. In fact, Brax is just what the fates have ordered.

Braxton Slater is a heart sore bounty hunter for The Organization who’s about at the end of his rope. He’s a three-hundred-year-old born vampire. Over a decade ago, Hahn captured, tortured and murdered Brax’s mate. He’s been hunting him ever since. When he gets the call setting him on the road to follow the latest intel, his path leads to Layton, MI and the one woman that got away; the one woman that is also Brax’s true mate. Finding his true mate and realizing she is the target of his greatest nemesis and the bait in a very dangerous game to capture Hahn puts Brax in major protection mode; that is when he isn’t trying to seduce his mate. Of course, his pursuit of Elise stirs some major testosterone displays in her pack mates. Brax may be set in his ways, protective and a little hot to handle, but none of that will stop Elise from sticking to her guns when it comes to her hard-won independence and a chance at vengeance. That very feisty assertiveness just endears her more to Brax.

Recurrent nightmares turn out to be visions. A lost family member and a new heritage are found. Prophecies are revealed. Life proves that sometimes it doesn’t matter how much preparation you do it’s never enough. More than any of that though the connection of true mates and the love involved will see them through all their challenges. Vengeance is a wonderful introduction to a new series. I’d recommend it to those that love a good paranormal with a serious dose of the world at risk. There is plenty of tragedy, angst, suspense, humor, passion and love to please everyone.
