I love a good second-chance romance!

Oliver and Samuel’s relationship is fairy-tale perfect. They share a gorgeous house in Antwerp, go out with their friends every weekend, and count down the days to their dream wedding. But their happy ending is shattered one late night, and just like that, Ollie is left bereft and alone.
The months that follow are long and dark, but slowly Ollie emerges from his grief. He even braves the waters of online dating, though deep down he doesn’t believe he can find that connection again. He doesn’t think to look for love right in front of him: his bisexual friend Thomas, the gentle giant with a kind heart and sad eyes who’s wanted him all along.
When Thomas suddenly discovers he has a son who needs him, he’s ill prepared. Ollie opens up his house—Sam’s house—and lets them in. Ollie doesn’t know what scares him more: the responsibility of caring for a baby, or the way Thomas is steadily winning his heart. It will take all the courage he has to discover whether or not fairy tales can happen for real.

I love a good second-chance romance!
Patchwork Paradise is the first book I’ve read by Indra Vaughn and I loved it! Second chance stories are one of my favorite romance tropes and this one is really good.
This was such an emotional story. I knew from the blurb that I wanted to read it and that, if done well, it would be a major tear-jerker (I happen to love stories that engage all of my emotions). Patchwork Paradise was well done IMHO. So, read the blurb it’s concise and hits the high points of the story.
What the blurb doesn’t tell you about is how Sam’s parents treat Ollie after Sam dies. They were really awful to him and there really wasn’t any good explanation for it other than a casual mention about financial trouble, and that didn’t come from them. That’s really my only complaint about the story; I think just a little more explanation about that would have been good. I deducted one star for this because I can’t give half stars; if I could I’d give this book 4.5 stars.
There’s also a lot more going on in the book than just the relationship between Oliver and Thomas. A secondary couple figure fairly prominently as they are good friends with Oliver and Thomas.
I love how descriptive the author’s words were and that this story is set in Belgium – a new location for me. The little tidbits about day-to-day life in Antwerp were interesting and I enjoyed reading about this city/country.
