Author’s Bio:
Liora Blake is a contemporary romance author living in Colorado. Although her path to here was paved with a million detours, plenty of pitfalls, and many a crisis of faith, she thinks it’s a pretty amazing place to be. She writes because it’s what she’s always wanted to do, she writes novels because she likes to tell the whole story, and she writes romance because a happily ever after is the best kind of story to tell.
When she isn’t writing, she’s likely baking cookies she shouldn’t eat, inventing elaborate excuses to avoid going for a run, or asking the nice barista to sell her another quad shot Americano.
I want to thank Liora Blake for being with us today, sharing her experience and personal thoughts about writing True Divide. I am a huge fan of Liora’s True series! As a matter of fact, I’ve read book one, True North twice. All three books are beautifully written, extremely touching, witty, and very hot! True Divide is the final book in the series, and I absolutely loved it. There is a link for my review of True Divide here as well.
DEB:
True Divide is the third and final book in your debut series, True. I have to say, I was blown away by book one, True North. I loved book two, True Devotion. And True Divide is an absolutely poignant ending to the series. Is there anything in this series that is taken from your real life or is it all purely imagination? What brought about the creation of the series?
LIORA:
I’m so glad that you and others have enjoyed the TRUE series! All three books were fun to write and I’m little sad at seeing it come to a close. These stories came purely from imagination, with the exception of a few dialog lines here and there. TRUE NORTH actually began as a chick lit novel, but after many rewrites, I ended up with a contemporary romance. After that, the other two books fell into place.
DEB:
Do you work with an outline or are you a “pantser”, just letting the story happen as the characters seem to take over?
LIORA:
I definitely work with an outline. I’m way too much of a control freak to do it any other way!
DEB:
Which of these three novels is your favorite and why? Which one was hardest to write and why?
LIORA:
TRUE DIVIDE was the hardest and my favorite! Lacey was a tough one to figure out at first, which is why this book didn’t come easy. But by the time I finished, I had fallen in love with her and Jake.
DEB:
True Divide is Lacey and Jake’s second chance love story. What do you hope your readers will love most about Lacey? About Jake?
LIORA:
I hope readers love how Lacey is a lot of things: sentimental and unsure, feminine and feisty. As for Jake, I hope they like his honesty and the way he does his best to give Lacey what she needs–even if he doesn’t get it quite right sometimes.
DEB:
What was your favorite scene of True Divide to write and why?
LIORA:
I like the bar scene at the beginning of the book: Lacey and Jake checking each other out, Lacey getting a glimpse into who Jake is now, and Dusty…well, Dusty being Dusty.
DEB:
If True Divide were made into a movie, who do you see playing the parts of Lacey and Jake?
LIORA:
Aaron Paul and Dianna Agron.
DEB:
Any idea what your next book will be about?
LIORA:
Not entirely. There are always a few things floating around in my brain, so we’ll see what happens!
