I left Vermont on the most painful day of my life and swore I’d never go back. Meadows Park–the shuttered amusement park that’s been in my family for generations–is the home of all my finest and worst memories. They all star Peter Landry–the best friend I ever had, and the only guy I’ve ever loved.
But then my eccentric grandfather buried two million dollars on the property and couldn’t remember where.
So I’m back, and asking Peter for help. He’s an Ivy League lawyer now. Still gorgeous, and able to gut me with a single smile. And I’m still a disappointment, living in the city and washing dishes to get by. As soon as we strike off down the first sunlit path, the Meadows Park magic begins to fill my heart with yearning, lust, and most dangerous of all—dreams.
I’m secretly relieved each time the day ends, leaving us empty-handed. I know it’s wrong—without that money, we could lose the park.
But if I find the treasure, I lose the guy.

Sweet second chance romance with hot sexy time.
I love a good second chance story and it’s a double treat when it’s childhood friends-to-lovers. Riley and Peter were nearly inseparable during the summers that Riley spent with his grandfather, Gene. Gene owns the property where the former amusement park, Wonderland, was located, near Burlington VT. Wonderland was shut down years before Riley came around and he and his grandfather had big plans to reopen it. Peter lived in Burlington and his uncle was good friends with Gene. A mishap the summer they were 18 separated Riley and Peter and they haven’t seen each other for 8 years.
When Peter comes to tell Gene about a problem, he finds that Riley is back and the connection between them is still there, even though Peter was nearly destroyed when Riley left all those years ago and refused to answers his calls or texts. Riley was hurting too, but he didn’t tell Peter why he left eight years ago.
This story had my emotions all over the place. I really felt so bad for both Riley and Peter. They were both hurting and not sure how to tell each other their reasons. When Peter agrees to help Riley look for his grandfather’s misplaced fortune, spending all of that time together rekindles the feelings they still had for each other.
I loved everything about this even the parts that hit a bit close to home. Gene and his “collecting” and refusing to throw anything away were all too familiar. I’m really going to hate it when this series ends. Wonderland was my first book by Rachel Ember but I’m sure it won’t be my last.
